Over 300 years ago when white people were coming to America, an old Indian Chief named Gaspesian said to one of the new settlors,

“While feeling compassion for you as children of the Great Spirit, we all wonder at the anxieties and cares which you bring upon yourselves;”

300 years later, nothing has changed;

In spite of our belief that all the new technology would provide us with so much leisure time it could pose a problem;

Just the opposite is true;

We have more anxiety and stress than ever;

What should we learn from the words of the old Indian chief?

Do we heap anxieties and cares upon ourselves that are unnecessary?

Perhaps we should take a long, hard look at the manner in which we are living our lives.
